Le Royal Monceau - Raffles Paris reveals a collaboration with the GADCOLLECTION gallery.
The gallery guides discerning collectors and art lovers in their acquisition of fine art photography. It offers very limited editions of original photographs.
As part of this collaboration, 15 photographs by Éric HOUDOYER will be displayed in the entrance, lobby, Le Bar Long and corridors of the Palace from 23 January to 12 February 2024.
The French photographer, who specialises in street photography, captures everyday life in Paris. Passers-by and customers in the capital’s brasseries are the subjects of his snapshots. Anonymity often prevails. We catch a glimpse of a hand, a silhouette or a figure hidden behind a hat. Éric HOUDOYER is brilliant at capturing gestures and movements, which he sublimates through the composition and geometry of urban elements. His particular eye for contrasting tones and shapes gives life to a photograph with a strong grain. The play of shadows sketches out a world without faces, where touches of light structure the image. In this detective story, it’s up to the viewer to investigate and discover the clues in everyday scenes.
Éric HOUDOYER has quickly established himself on the international scene, particularly in Japan, where he has been invited to take part in exhibitions in Kyoto and Metzuru. His figurative approach to photography recalls both Edward Hopper’s pictorial world and the cinema of Jim Jarmusch.
